Dr. Wylie

James D. Wylie, M.D.

Dr. James Wylie is an orthopedic surgeon in Murray, Utah and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (TOSH), LDS Hospital, and Primary Children’s Hospital.

He received his medical degree from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Utah. He then completed fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the University of Connecticut and adolescent at young adult hip preservation surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School.

He treats all hip and knee conditions in young, active patients. He is sports medicine trained and uses arthroscopy to perform joint preserving surgery in a minimally invasive fashion. He also specializes is osteotomies around the hip and knee for joint preservation.

He also has a role in administration and research and functions as the Associate Medical Director for Hip and Knee Preservation and Director of Orthopedic Research for Intermountain Healthcare. He has published over seventy peer-reviewed publications and has presented both nationally and internationally. He authored a recent textbook on hip preservation with his colleagues at Harvard Medical School: “Hip Preservation Surgery in Children and Adolescents.” He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a medical license in Utah .
